Background

Virginia Tech, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide a space utilization sensor solution. The goal of this contract is to streamline University space planning by enabling accurate occupancy and utilization readings through the deployment of sensors that will work alongside the University's existing space utilization and tracking software.

Work Details

The selected vendor will provide occupancy and utilization sensors capable of measuring daily presence and density within interior building spaces at Virginia Tech. The sensors must: - Detect and measure occupancy in designated areas (offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, corridors, etc.) - Operate using non-intrusive technologies (infrared, thermal, radar, LiDAR) - Ensure employee privacy by not capturing identifiable images or audio - Have low power consumption and minimal maintenance requirements - Support wireless or network-based connectivity suitable for university IT infrastructure - Be designed for unobtrusive installation. Additionally, a software platform must be provided that supports data collection, processing, visualization, and reporting with features like a web-based dashboard for real-time data viewing, historical data analysis capabilities, multiple visualization tools (heat maps), role-based access control for users, and secure data storage. The vendor will also conduct site assessments for optimal sensor placement, install all hardware, configure the software platform, perform system testing and validation, provide training sessions for university personnel on system administration and reporting tools, and ensure ongoing maintenance and support services.

Period of Performance

The contract term is one year with options for renewal as negotiated.

Place of Performance
