Equipment with Operator

Background

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is soliciting bids for the provision of equipment with operators to perform general roadway maintenance, incidental road construction, and critical repair work in Wythe and Grayson Counties. The goal of this contract is to ensure safe and efficient operations on primary and secondary routes within the Bristol District.

Work Details

The contractor will provide on-call, as-needed hourly rental of equipment with experienced operators. Services include: clearing and widening existing roads, pipe installations, hauling materials, placing aggregate base courses, installation of environmental protection items, lowering over-vertical curves, raising roadway grades for drainage, removing rock outcroppings, spot widening and minor restoration of roadways, replacing drainage pipes, repairing slopes, hydro-seeding disturbed areas, excavating for culvert installations, constructing turning lanes, and safety maintenance projects. The contractor must supply labor, fuel, transportation (mobilization), tools, supplies, supervision, and traffic control measures for each work location unless directed otherwise by VDOT. All work must comply with VDOT standards and specifications.

Period of Performance

The contract will be for a period of one year from the date of award with options for renewal.

Place of Performance

Work will be performed in Wythe and Grayson Counties within the Bristol District.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must hold a minimum Class A Contractor’s license from the State Board of Contractors with a Highway/Heavy classification. A Small Business Subcontracting Plan (SBSP) is required if the bidder is not certified as a small business by the Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity at the time of bid closing. Bidders must provide proof of training and certifications for personnel operating equipment.
