The University at Buffalo is seeking proposals for a Managed Cloud wireless onboarding solution. The required solution should provide a hybrid on-premises and cloud-based, mobile-friendly portal to streamline the onboarding process for both managed faculty/staff devices and unmanaged/BYOD student devices. The main objectives are to replace passwords with certificate-based authentication, automate device onboarding, configure 802.1X, and enforce policies. This will reduce IT workload while ensuring secure access for all users. The work includes: - Automatic device 802.1X configuration software compatible with all operating systems, including guided user flows as needed. - Configuration support for device or user certificates. - Easy configuration for server certificate validation. - End-to-end configuration process that takes only a minute or two. - Support for iOS, Windows, macOS, Android, ChromeOS, Linux, and Kindle devices. - Restrictive browser support. - SSL inspection for BYODs. - Fully customizable onboarding page, including editable design, instructions, and supported operating systems. - Ability to create multiple landing pages for different access types, such as guest network or Eduroam. - Onboarding support for any required protocol, including PEAP. Who is Requesting: This solicitation is issued by the University at Buffalo.

Background

The University at Buffalo intends to make an award under its discretionary authority, as provided by NYS Education Law 355 (5) (a), for an amount up to $125,000. No sealed bid process will be held for this procurement.

Contract Requirements

The solution must be a hybrid on-premises and cloud-based system, support certificate-based authentication, and automate onboarding and 802.1X configuration for a wide range of devices and operating systems. It must also allow for customizable onboarding pages and support multiple protocols and access types.
