Background

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) is issuing this Invitation for Bids to harvest hay from the Dewey Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) located in Floyd County, Kentucky. The goal of this contract is to manage the hay harvesting process effectively while ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.

Work Details

The successful bidder will be responsible for cutting, baling, raking, and removing hay from approximately 14.9 acres within the Dewey Lake WMA. Harvesting operations may not commence before July 5th each year and must be completed by September 30th. Bidders will propose a payment amount per acre, with a minimum bid of $5 per acre required. The bidder must ensure that all ingress and egress routes to the fields are approved by KDFWR and the US Army Corps of Engineers prior to starting operations. Additionally, the bidder must maintain public roads free of soil during operations and is liable for any damages caused during the harvesting process.

Period of Performance

The contract will be for one year with options for up to four successive yearly renewals, totaling a maximum of five years. The license agreement will commence upon execution by KDFWR.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must submit a good faith deposit of $100 with their bid.
