Re-Bid Bike Lane Protection and Wayfinding

Background

The City of Durham Department of Transportation is seeking bids for the Bike Lane Protection and Wayfinding project. This initiative aims to enhance bicycle safety and navigation through the installation of vertical protection in bike lane buffers along two corridors and wayfinding signage for several neighborhood bike routes. The project must adhere to the North Carolina Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures, January 2024, along with any addenda.

Work Details

The project involves: 1. Installation of vertical protection in bike lane buffers along two corridors. 2. Installation of wayfinding signage for several neighborhood bike routes. 3. Application of specialty pavement markings, including bike lane green and preformed thermoplastic materials. The contractor is responsible for all necessary equipment, labor, and materials required to complete the project as per the specifications outlined by the City.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed over a period of 240 calendar days following the issuance of a notice to proceed.

The work will take place within various locations in Durham, North Carolina.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with all applicable laws regulating general contracting as per Chapter 87 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. A contractor's license from the N.C. Licensing Board is required for bids exceeding $50,000, except for certain specialty work as determined by the licensing board. Additionally, bidders must meet participation goals set forth by the City’s Equal Business Opportunity Program (0% MBE and 7% WBE).
