Rampart Rural Airport Maintenance

Background

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Division of Program Management and Administration, is soliciting bids for a Rural Airport Maintenance contract in Rampart, Alaska. The goal of this contract is to ensure the proper maintenance and operational readiness of the Rampart Airport during the winter months.

Work Details

The work includes winter maintenance of the airport facility, which encompasses state-owned equipment, building structures, and roadways located on airport property. The contractor will coordinate with the airport manager and provide weekly reports on current conditions. Specific tasks include: 1. Maintaining all state runways, taxiways, aprons, safety areas, access roads, lighting systems, segmented circles, wind cones, and state buildings at the airport. 2. Keeping the airport accessible and operational from October 1 through April 30. 3. Conducting daily inspections of lighting systems and runway surfaces. 4. Snow control efforts beginning when two inches of snow or half an inch of slush accumulates on surfaces. 5. Monthly trash removal from airport property. 6. Providing all necessary hand tools and safety equipment for maintenance tasks. 7. Reporting any defects or damage immediately to the airport manager for correction.

Period of Performance

The contract will be effective from October 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027, with options to renew for four additional one-year terms.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a valid Alaska business license or obtain one prior to contract award. They must demonstrate experience in operating heavy equipment and preferably have aviation-related experience. Bids must include a list of personnel who will operate equipment along with evidence of their qualifications.
