Background The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to seek competitive sealed bids from qualified vendors to provide professional lawn and grounds maintenance for Gaston College Main Campus located at 201 Highway 321 South, Dallas, NC 28034. Gaston College operates under the North Carolina Community College System and serves Gaston and Lincoln counties. The college aims to enhance its growth as part of the community college system. The main campus encompasses approximately 159 acres. Work Details The contract includes comprehensive lawn and grounds maintenance services, which consist of labor, supervision, equipment, and supplies. Specific tasks include: - Lawncare services performed between 5:00 AM and 8:00 PM with minimal noise disruption. - Removal of trash and debris from lawns, plant beds, sidewalks, and paved areas before mowing. - Edging of curbs and walkways during each mowing cycle. - Pruning of trees, shrubs, and groundcover as necessary or requested. - Weekly cleaning of parking lots using blowers. - Leaf removal twice a week during September-November and weekly from December-February. - Snow removal and ice treatment as requested by the Director of Facilities. - Mowing at specified heights (3 inches in cooler months; 4 inches in hotter months) without damaging property. - Annual application of pre-emergent herbicides in spring and post-emergent controls as needed. - Maintenance of flowerbeds with seasonal flowers approved by the Director of Facilities. Period of Performance The contract will have an initial term of three (3) years starting from the date of final contract execution. Work must commence within thirty (30) business days after the effective date. Place of Performance Gaston College Main Campus at 201 Highway 321 South, Dallas, NC 28034. Bidder Requirements Vendors must be registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State. They are required to hold a current NC Registered Landscape Contractor license and a valid NC Pesticide Applicator License. Vendors must also demonstrate experience with similar projects in public or private sectors. Additionally, they should comply with HUB participation goals by utilizing small or minority-owned businesses.
