Background

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking to procure cryopreserved amniotic membrane and umbilical cord matrix products for ocular surface applications. The goal of this contract is to provide biologic ocular transplantation grafts that facilitate wound healing on damaged ocular surfaces, thereby supporting the mission of enhancing patient care in ophthalmology.

Work Details

The contract involves the purchase of two primary products: 1) AmnioGraft, which is a cryopreserved amniotic membrane matrix used on the ocular surface to exert anti-inflammatory, anti-scarring, and anti-angiogenic actions; 2) AmnioGuard, which is a cryopreserved umbilical cord and amniotic membrane matrix used as tectonic support to strengthen the ocular surface. These products are essential for various surgical procedures including treatment for mechanical dry eye, pterygium, fornix & socket reconstruction, removal of tumors or lesions, and ocular dermal wounds.

Period of Performance

The term of purchase is for one year with options for renewal consistent with the New Mexico Procurement Code.

Place of Performance

The products will be delivered to the University of New Mexico located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bidder Requirements

The proposed vendor, Bio-Tissue, Inc., is the only company that utilizes CryoTek processing for cryopreservation. This technology significantly preserves the natural properties of the tissue better than dehydration preservation processes, making them uniquely qualified to provide these specific products.
