Emergency Homeless Shelter

Background

The Mariposa County Health and Human Services Agency (MCHHSA) is seeking proposals from qualified providers to establish an emergency homeless shelter in Mariposa County. This initiative aims to address the sheltering and housing needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly following the Board of Supervisors' declaration of a shelter crisis in the county. The goal is to create a secure environment that supports individuals in achieving stability and self-sufficiency.

Work Details

The selected provider will manage and operate an emergency homeless shelter accommodating up to 40 residents, providing essential services including: - Shelter operations with 24-hour monitoring staff. - Provision of three meals per day. - Case management services aimed at helping residents secure permanent housing. - Supportive services such as trauma-informed assessments, job training referrals, and assistance with vital records procurement. - Maintenance of the facility, including landscaping, pest control, and janitorial services. - Coordination with local agencies for comprehensive support to residents with complex needs, including those with substance use disorders or mental health challenges.

Period of Performance

The contract will be for a period of 12 months, starting from August 1, 2026, with potential for renewal for two additional one-year periods based on mutual agreement.

Place of Performance

The emergency homeless shelter will be located within the unincorporated town of Mariposa, California.

Bidder Requirements

Eligible bidders must be public or private non-profit agencies with at least two years of experience in managing shelters and providing services to diverse populations. They must demonstrate knowledge of local zoning ordinances and possess the resources necessary to fulfill administrative and fiscal requirements. The provider must also ensure compliance with equal opportunity policies and maintain required insurance coverage.
