Background

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Northern Region Design, Engineering & Construction (NR DE&C), is seeking information from qualified vendors regarding the availability of long-term leased warehouse space to support Field Lab Equipment (FLE), files, and associated materials. NR DE&C maintains over $2 million in calibrated, sensitive, and specialized FLE critical for quality assurance activities under FHWA and FAA funding regulations. The previous storage facility was deemed unsafe, necessitating relocation. The current lease expires on October 14, 2026.

Work Details

DOT&PF seeks information from vendors capable of providing warehouse space that meets the following needs: - Safe, heated, weather-protected storage for sensitive electronic and mechanical equipment. - Sufficient square footage to house the FLE Inventory. - Structural capacity for heavy laboratory ovens, scales, aggregate shakers, nuclear density gauges, and other materials. - Space to store engineering files, boxed documents, GPS tools, and sampling containers. - Immediate or near-term availability to prevent damage to assets prior to winter. Facility requirements include: - Location within one mile of 2301 Peger Road, Fairbanks, Alaska. - A minimum of 2,400 square feet of heated space with a minimum ceiling height of 15 feet and adequate floor load capacity. - Utilities including heat, electricity (120V/240V), and water. - Garage door dimensions of at least 14 feet high by 12 feet wide. - At least one standard personnel door. - Loading capabilities for large equipment into enclosed trailers and flatbed trucks. - Safety requirements ensuring the facility is free from mold, asbestos, and other hazardous conditions.

Responses must be submitted by June 16, 2026. The current lease expires on October 14, 2026.
