Sgr/Smart Scale - Bridge Replacement And Road Improvements

Background

The Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Transportation (VDOT) is issuing this contract for the SGR/SMART SCALE project, which involves bridge replacement and road improvements along Route 17 in Frederick County. The goal of the project is to enhance transportation infrastructure and improve safety along this corridor. The work will take place from 0.016 miles west of the intersection with Apple Blossom Drive to 0.049 miles east of the intersection with Tulane Drive.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to: clearing and grubbing, excavation, installation of storm sewer pipes (15", 18", 24", 30", 36"), drop inlets, end sections, concrete work including bridge substructure and deck grooving, asphalt concrete paving, guardrail installation, traffic signalization, and pavement marking. Specific items include: - Regular excavation and borrow excavation - Installation of various sizes of storm sewer pipes - Construction of drop inlets and end sections - Reinforced concrete work for bridge structures - Asphalt concrete paving in multiple types - Installation of guardrails and traffic control devices - Pavement markings including various types and sizes.

Period of Performance

The contract performance period is set to begin upon award and is expected to be completed by November 9, 2029.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in Frederick County, Virginia along Route 17.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must meet prequalification requirements as specified by VDOT. They are required to submit a bid electronically through Bidx. Joint ventures must disclose the firm names involved and provide a letter detailing responsibilities. Bid bonds are required as per Section 102.07.
