Background

San Diego State University, under the Trustees of the California State University, is seeking qualified contractors to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for eligible Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. This initiative aims to facilitate effective communication in academic settings and during university-wide events, ensuring that all information is accessible to these students. The contract's goal is to remove barriers to access and support the academic success of students by providing reliable and professional interpreting services.

Work Details

The contractor will provide in-person ASL interpreting services, with a capacity of 80 - 250+ hours per month, depending on student demand. Services must be available during regular business hours, evenings (5:00 PM - 9:00 PM), weekends, and holidays. Key responsibilities include: 1. Confirming receipt of requests within 24 hours. 2. Attaining near 100% reliability for assignments. 3. Providing a list of interpreters and updating it as necessary. 4. Making every effort to schedule specific interpreters requested by students. 5. Adjusting quickly to changes in staff availability. 6. Maintaining professionalism in all communications. 7. Providing services performed by certified personnel consistent with industry standards.

Period of Performance

The initial term of the contract is 2 years, with optional extensions available for five additional one-year periods.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at San Diego State University and may include various campus locations as required by the interpreting requests.

Bidder Requirements
