The City of Coronado is issuing a Notice Inviting Bids for the Street Preventive Maintenance FY 25/26 project, aimed at maintaining and improving the city's road infrastructure. The goal of this contract is to ensure safe and reliable roadways for the community by addressing necessary asphalt repairs and maintenance.
The project involves approximately 28,134 square feet of asphalt 'dig out' repairs, which require full depth removal of existing asphalt material to a minimum depth of 6 inches. Preparation of the subgrade as needed and installation of new asphalt will follow. The sizes of the asphalt repairs will range from a minimum of 4 feet x 4 feet to a maximum of 30 feet x 160 feet at various locations throughout the project area. Additional work includes: - Removing roadway striping and markings - Street sweeping - Asphalt crack-filling - Applying 2,911,355 square feet of slurry coating - Restoring roadway striping and markings in parking lot areas. The scope also includes implementing advanced construction notifications and appropriate traffic control measures for public safety. An additive scope may include an additional 17,304 square feet of asphalt replacement.
The anticipated Notice to Proceed is expected to be issued by early September 2026.
All work will be performed within the designated areas identified in Attachments A, B, C, and D of the Notice Inviting Bids.
Bidders must possess a current State of California 'Class A' General Engineering license or 'Class C12' Earthwork and Paving license or 'Class C-32' Parkway and Highway Improvement Contractor’s License at the time the contract is awarded. Contractors must also be registered with the State of California Department of Industrial Relations per Labor Code Section 1771.1(a) and possess a City business certificate. Additionally, all contractors are required to pay prevailing wage rates as determined by the Director of Industrial Relations for all work done under this contract.
