The Town of Jericho (Town) with support from The Jericho Conservation Commission (JCC), is requesting bids from qualified contractors for the removal of the Jericho Town Forest Dam. This project consists of the removal of a sheet pile dam and restoration of the impoundment to renaturalize the stream and floodplain system. The dam and all associated infrastructure, including all sheet piling, concrete blocks and culverts, shall be fully removed and hauled off site. Accumulated sediment shall be removed from the impoundment and disposed of on site. A proposed stream channel shall be graded into the former impoundment with accessible floodplains. On-site wood shall be utilized for proposed grade control structures and floodplain roughness elements.
Background The Town of Jericho, with support from The Jericho Conservation Commission (JCC) and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) through Watersheds United Vermont (WUV), is requesting bids from qualified contractors for the removal of the Jericho Town Forest Dam. This project aims to restore the stream and floodplain system by removing the dam and its associated infrastructure. Work Details The project consists of the following tasks: 1. Removal of a sheet pile dam and all associated infrastructure, including sheet piling, concrete blocks, and culverts, which shall be fully removed and hauled off site. 2. Removal of approximately 150 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from the impoundment, which will be disposed of on site. 3. Grading a proposed 7-foot wide stream channel into the former impoundment with accessible floodplains. 4. Utilizing on-site wood for proposed grade control structures and floodplain roughness elements. 5. Stabilization of excavated sediment using biodegradable rolled erosion control products (RECP) and onsite duff materials. The contractor is responsible for hauling dam materials off site and disposing accordingly. Period of Performance The construction is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026, with a completion date set for October 1, 2026. The in-stream work must occur during a dry, low water period within this timeframe. Place of Performance Jericho Town Forest, Jericho, Vermont. Bidder Requirements Contractors must maintain insurance coverages as per Vermont State Insurance Specifications, including: Workers Compensation insurance; General Liability insurance with limits not less than $1 million per occurrence; Automotive Liability insurance with limits not less than $1 million combined single limit. Contractors must also comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to the performance of this agreement.
