Town of Middlesex - Norton Rd Culvert Replacement

Background

The Town of Middlesex is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the replacement of a culvert on Norton Road, which was damaged during the 2024 Flood. This project is supported by FEMA and aims to restore infrastructure while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Work Details

The project involves the following tasks: - Removal of the existing 48” CMP culvert - Installation of an 81” x 59” corrugated metal pipe arch and steel headwall - Stabilization at the outlet of the culvert - Bank stabilization along the North Branch of the Winooski surrounding the outlet - Minor channel grading upstream to achieve proposed slopes. The Town will cover manufacturing and delivery costs for the new culvert, while the contractor must provide equipment for its installation. The contractor is also responsible for all imported materials such as rip-rap, seed, and straw.

Period of Performance

Construction is scheduled to begin on July 20, 2026, with a completion date set for October 1, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed on Norton Road in Middlesex, Vermont.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with all applicable laws and regulations. They are required to maintain specific insurance coverages including workers' compensation, general liability with limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, and automotive liability insurance. The contractor must list The Town of Middlesex as additional insureds. Bids must be submitted by email by June 19, 2026.
