Town of Middlesex - Lower Sunny Brook Rd Culvert Replacements

Background

The Town of Middlesex is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the replacement of two culvert crossings on Lower Sunny Brook Rd, which were damaged during the 2024 Flood. This project is supported financially by FEMA and aims to restore infrastructure affected by natural disasters.

Work Details

The project involves the replacement of two culverts on Lower Sunny Brook Rd, each currently consisting of side-by-side 60” CMP culverts. The work includes: - Installation of a temporary roadway crossing (up or downstream depending on site conditions). - Removal of existing CMPs. - Installation of an 18’ x 6’ concrete box culvert with headwalls and wing walls at each inlet and outlet. Additional tasks include bank stabilization surrounding the proposed culvert and minor channel grading to achieve proposed slopes post-removal of the temporary roadway. The Town has ordered two concrete box culverts, which will be delivered to the site; however, the contractor is responsible for providing a crane for their installation.

Period of Performance

Construction is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2026, with a completion date set for October 1, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at two locations along Lower Sunny Brook Rd in Middlesex, VT.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Contractors are required to maintain specific insurance coverages including workers' compensation, general liability, and automotive liability insurance. The contractor must list the Town of Middlesex as additional insureds for liability arising out of this project. Additionally, bidders are encouraged to be DBE businesses.
