Head Start and Early Head Start Program Support

has recently awarded a grant through Head Start that may result in future contract opportunities or awards to complete City of Oakland has received a grant to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of low-income children, including those on federally recognized reservations and children of migratory farm workers. The grant supports the provision of comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social, and other services. It also aims to involve parents in their children's learning and assist parents in making progress toward their educational, literacy, and employment goals. The program emphasizes significant parental involvement in the administration of local Head Start programs. Additionally, through Early Head Start programming, the grant focuses on the development of infants and toddlers by providing safe and developmentally enriching caregiving, preparing children for continued growth and success in school and life. To achieve these goals, the grant supports a three-tier training and technical assistance system at national, regional, and local levels designed to expand staff qualifications and improve management systems and learning environments.
