Background

The State of Iowa is seeking bidders to provide Water Treatment Chemicals and Services to the Capitol Complex. The goal is to maintain a high-quality chemical treatment and service program to ensure peak operating efficiencies while minimizing maintenance and equipment replacement. This includes minimizing corrosion, fouling, and biological growth in the steam and chilled water systems with safe application systems and environmentally friendly products.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all necessary chemicals, training, equipment, and testing supplies including water sampling and analysis kits. Services include conducting initial water analysis of all systems, providing recommendations for remedial action, delivering liquid chemical systems compatible with existing equipment, preventing scale and corrosion in boilers, adding chemical treatments using automatic feeder pumps, monthly chemical testing and monitoring of treated systems, annual corrosion studies on cooling systems, bulk chemical delivery services with minimal manual handling, 24-hour emergency response services, and providing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals supplied. The work will be performed at various locations including the Central Energy Plant, Historical Building, Oran Pape Building, Iowa Utilities Board building, and Iowa Laboratory Facilities in Ankeny.

Period of Performance

The contract term will begin on July 1, 2026, and end on June 30, 2027. The agency has the option to renew the contract for up to five annual extensions.

Services will be performed at the Capitol Complex in Des Moines, Iowa including locations such as the Central Energy Plant, Historical Building, Oran Pape Building, Iowa Utilities Board building, and Iowa Laboratory Facilities in Ankeny.
