Background The VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System is seeking technical training for VA Dental Handpiece repair to support its Dental Service. Work Details The contract requires an all-inclusive, hands-on training program designed for 2 Biomedical Equipment Support Specialists. The training must cover core fundamentals, preventative maintenance, component-level troubleshooting, and repair of both electric and pneumatic dental handpieces. The training will be facilitated by Kavo certified instructors and must include: - Electric and Pneumatic Repair Tool Sets - Electric and Pneumatic Repair Parts Inventory - Curriculum covering troubleshooting, bearing replacement, turbine replacement, cleaning/lubrication, and repair techniques applicable to a variety of major manufacturers and models. Specific topics include: - Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identifying common issues such as air pressure problems, noise, vibration, and performance analysis. - Handpiece Repair Procedures: Proper disassembly/assembly techniques, parts identification/replacement selection, cleaning methods, lubrication protocols, and post-repair testing. - Hands-On Training & Repetition: Step-by-step practice to build confidence in real-world scenarios. - Tools & Equipment Setup: Essential tools for professional repair and workflow optimization. - Parts Review: Vendor options and inventory suggestions for common repair parts.
