Fire Retardant Uniform Rental Contract

Background

The City of Ames, Iowa, is seeking proposals for fire retardant uniform rentals to support various departments. This contract aims to provide rental, laundering, and delivery services for Fire Retardant (FR) work uniforms, ensuring compliance with safety standards and enhancing the operational efficiency of the City’s workforce.

Work Details

The contractor will provide rental and laundering services for Fire Retardant (FR) uniform shirts and jeans. Each eligible employee will receive eleven (11) sets of FR shirts and jeans, with an initial delivery of six (6) sets followed by five (5) sets the following week. The uniforms must comply with NFPA 70E standards, ensuring a minimum PPE Category 2 arc rating of 8 cal/cm². The vendor is responsible for measuring employees for proper fit and must deliver uniforms in a clean, pressed condition. Additionally, the vendor will embroider each shirt with the City logo and employee name using flame-resistant thread. The contract includes provisions for regular weekly deliveries, an inventory system for check-in/check-out, and requirements for repairs and replacements of uniforms as needed.

Period of Performance

The contract period is from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with options to renew for up to four additional periods subject to mutual agreement and funding approval.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at various locations within the City of Ames, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must demonstrate experience in similar projects and provide references. They are required to maintain insurance coverage as specified in the solicitation documents. Additionally, vendors must comply with local business certification requirements if applicable.
