Lower Gwynedd Township Traffic Signal Improvements

Background

Lower Gwynedd Township is seeking proposals for Traffic Signal Improvements at various intersections within Lower Gwynedd, Montgomery, and Horsham Townships in Montgomery County, PA. The goal of this contract is to enhance traffic signal systems to improve safety and efficiency in the area. The project will be managed by Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd., which has prepared the necessary plans and specifications.

Work Details

The contract involves the following services and products: - Mobilization of resources for the project. - Maintenance and protection of traffic during construction. - Installation of post-mounted signs (Type F) and structure-mounted flat sheet aluminum signs. - Provision for unforeseen traffic signal work. - Installation of a NEMA TS-2 Type 1 Controller Assembly and related modifications. - Implementation of a radio communication system. - Installation of managed network switches and unified command/control integration. - Installation of conduits (2-inch and 3-inch) for electrical wiring. - Trenching and backfilling as required for installation. - Installation of signal cables with specific specifications (14 AWG). - Provision of junction boxes and electrical service connections. - Installation of vehicular signal heads with specified configurations (three 12" sections and four 12" sections). - Implementation of video detection systems and radar detection systems.

Period of Performance

The work is expected to be completed within 240 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, which includes a 30-day testing period.

The work will be performed at various intersections located within Lower Gwynedd, Montgomery, and Horsham Townships in Montgomery County, PA.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with Pennsylvania's Prevailing Wage Act. All bidders are required to establish proof of competency according to 67 PA Code Chapter 457 regulations. Bidders must also be pre-qualified contractors with PennDOT. A bid bond amounting to 10% of the total bid must accompany all proposals. Subcontractors listed in proposals must meet prequalification requirements.
