Background

The Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) is issuing this solicitation for a project titled 'NVCC Multiple Campus Add Electronic Door Access' (Project Code: 260-B3260-069). The goal of this project is to implement electronic door access controls across the NVCC system, enhancing security and access management at multiple campuses including Alexandria, Annandale, Springfield Medical, Loudoun, Woodbridge, and Manassas. This project involves significant alterations to existing structures to accommodate the new access controls.

Work Details

The work includes the installation of electronic door access controls on approximately 262 doors located in about 28 buildings across the NVCC campuses. The contractor will be responsible for all aspects of the installation process including but not limited to: - Site assessment - Procurement of necessary materials and equipment - Installation of hardware and software components for electronic access control systems - Testing of systems post-installation - Ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Specific tasks may include wiring for electrical components, integration with existing security systems, and training staff on new systems.

Period of Performance

The contract period is expected to commence upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed and must be completed within a specified timeframe as outlined in the bid documents. Final completion is anticipated within thirty (30) days after substantial completion.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at various locations across the Northern Virginia Community College system including campuses in Alexandria, Annandale, Springfield Medical, Loudoun, Woodbridge, and Manassas.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered in eVA (Virginia's electronic procurement system) and comply with all requirements outlined in the solicitation documents. A Commonwealth of Virginia Standard Bid Bond is required for bids exceeding $500,000. Bidders must also provide proof of licensing as either a Class A or Class B contractor based on the total value of work.
