Walnut Hollow Landslide

Background

The Virginia Department of Energy is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the Walnut Hollow Landslide Project, which is part of the Abandoned Mined Land Repurposing Program. The project aims to address environmental concerns related to erosion and sediment control in Grundy, Virginia, specifically at 1192 Walnut Hollow Road. The goal is to reclaim and restore the affected area for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for several key tasks under this contract: - Construction of erosion and sediment control measures as directed. - Construction and eventual removal of a scarp area. - Installation of a mine portal closure (wet seal). - Installation of a Segmental Retaining Wall (SRW) and chain link fence. - Paving and upgrading the driveway area. - Revegetation of all disturbed areas on site. The work must comply with specifications outlined in Section VIII (Scope of Work/Technical Specifications/Drawings).

Period of Performance

The initial period of the contract will begin on the date of award and will remain in effect until project completion, with an estimated construction time frame of 120 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed.

The work will be performed at 1192 Walnut Hollow Road, Grundy, VA 24614.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with specific requirements including holding a valid Virginia Contractor License appropriate for the work scope. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for April 28, 2026, which bidders must attend to qualify for bid submission. Additionally, bidders are required to submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan if applicable and ensure compliance with all local laws and regulations.
