Johnson Ferry Road at Peachtree Dunwoody Road Intersection Improvements Design

Background

The City of Sandy Springs is seeking design services for safety and operational improvements at the intersection of Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Johnson Ferry Road (Project S2103). This project is managed by the Public Works Department, funded by City TSPLOST funds. The initiative follows a completed Concept Development Scoping Study that identified this intersection as a high-volume and high-crash location, necessitating further examination and design improvements.

Work Details

The scope of services includes: 1. **Survey**: Conduct a topographic survey with 2-foot contour intervals along the project corridor, including boundary surveys for parcels, utility locations to SUE Level B, and traffic volume data collection. 2. **Concept Design**: Refine the concept design ensuring ADA compliance, prepare hydrology studies, tree protection plans, utility coordination, ROW plans, retaining wall designs, and intersection lighting designs. 3. **Preliminary Design**: Develop 60% preliminary plans incorporating utility comments and ADA compliance. 4. **Final Design Phase**: Complete 100% plan sets, utility coordination documentation, final cost estimates, and submit for city approval. 5. **Public Involvement**: Conduct at least one public meeting to present concepts and gather feedback.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon execution of the agreement and is expected to follow a timeline that includes various phases such as survey completion, concept design approval, preliminary design development, final design completion, and public involvement activities over an estimated duration of 18 months.

The work will be performed at the intersection of Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be prequalified by GDOT in specific area classes including Urban Roadway Design (3.02), Traffic Operations Design (3.07), Facilities for Bicycles and Pedestrians (3.13), Utility Coordination (3.10), among others. Proposals must include required certifications such as E-verify Affidavit under O.C.G.A., Drug-Free Workplace Certification, Georgia Security Immigration Compliance Act Affidavit, Corporate Certificate, Business License, and GDOT Prequalification Certificate.
