NOVA FOB Aggregate

Background

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is soliciting bids from VDOT approved aggregate plants or quarries to provide various types of aggregate. The Northern Virginia District is responsible for providing products and services to Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties in a cost-effective manner. The goal of the contract is to ensure that different types of aggregate are available for road repairs in a timely manner and at reasonable costs.

Work Details

The contractor will provide various types of aggregate as specified in the solicitation bid pricing schedule. The aggregate will be picked up by VDOT operated or hired trucks from the contractor's quarry or plant, with the contractor responsible for loading the aggregate onto the trucks. The contractor must be VDOT-approved and listed on Approved List #5 prior to contract award. The quoted price shall be per short ton. The contractor's facility must be within a 20-mile radius of area headquarters, with specific exceptions noted for certain locations. Orders will be placed by VDOT as needed, and each load must have a printed ticket indicating weight or volume.

Period of Performance

The initial contract period will be one year from the time of award, with options for two successive one-year renewal terms.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be VDOT-approved aggregate plants or quarries and comply with various regulations including non-discrimination clauses and requirements related to drug-free workplaces. Bidders are required to register in eVA and pay applicable transaction fees. Additionally, any employer with more than 50 employees entering into a contract over $50,000 must participate in the E-Verify program.
