Spotsylvania Middle School Additions and Renovations

Background

Spotsylvania County Schools (SBCS) is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the Spotsylvania Middle School Additions and Renovations project. The mission of SBCS is to provide a safe and effective learning environment for students. The goal of this contract is to facilitate the demolition and removal of existing building structures at the school, along with associated site features and utilities.

Work Details

The project involves the following work: - Demolition of existing buildings; - Removal of below-grade construction; - Disconnection, capping, sealing, and/or removal of site utilities; - Salvage of designated items for reuse by the Owner. Contractors must adhere to all applicable specifications including Section 011000 'Summary', Section 013200 'Construction Progress Documentation', and Section 311000 'Site Clearing', as well as all related plans, drawings, and contract documents.

Period of Performance

The contract term will commence from the date of Notice to Proceed and will continue through August 30, 2027.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at Spotsylvania Middle School located at 8801 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a valid Virginia Class A Contractor’s License with appropriate classifications for building construction and renovation. They should have a minimum of five years of experience in renovation and construction projects similar in scope. Bidders must have successfully completed projects within the last five years that include at least one renovation project involving a gymnasium or auditorium with a contract value exceeding $1,000,000, as well as two additional building renovation projects exceeding $500,000 each. All bidders must provide evidence of successful completion of similar projects.
