The Bibb County School District serves over 20,000 students across 38 sites and 25 departments. The district is seeking a qualified contractor to provide fire alarm inspections as needed throughout the district. This RFP aims to ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain the functionality of fire alarm systems.
The contractor will be responsible for inspecting all fire alarm systems in the district, which must be conducted by NICET-certified technicians. The inspections must adhere to the following guidelines: - Manufacturer’s guidelines - NFPA 72 — National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code - State and Local Fire Marshal requirements - All applicable federal, state, and local codes Services include testing of alarm-initiating devices, alarm notification appliances, verification of circuit integrity, control panels, backup power systems, HVAC shutdown interfaces, water flow and tamper switch interfaces, and annunciators. Documentation is required for all inspections including NFPA 72-compliant reports submitted within one week of inspection completion. Deficiencies identified during inspections must be documented with severity levels assigned (Critical, Urgent, Routine) along with written repair quotes provided for approval before any repair work is conducted. A detailed inspection schedule must begin on July 1 of each contract year and accommodate school activities. Emergency response services must be available 24/7 with defined response times for critical failures (2-4 hours) and non-critical calls (within 24 hours). Pricing must be clearly separated into inspection pricing and repair/service call pricing.
The contract will be for a period of four years with an initial one-year term followed by three possible one-year renewals if deemed necessary.
The services will be performed at various locations within the Bibb County School District in Macon, Georgia.
Bidders must comply with all licensing requirements as mandated by the State of Georgia. They are also required to maintain a drug-free workplace and provide proof of insurance including Worker’s Compensation and Employer’s Liability Insurance. Additionally, contractors must ensure that at least 75% of their on-site workforce consists of local laborers from Bibb County or surrounding areas.
