Background

The Alaska Aerospace Corporation (AAC) is seeking a qualified Contractor to conduct a comprehensive Corrosion Control Study for the Launch Tower at LP-1 and associated support equipment at the Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska (PSCA) in Kodiak, AK. The primary objective is to assess the current material condition of all surfaces and structural components. The Contractor will utilize non-destructive evaluation (NDE) methods to identify degradation and provide a detailed technical report to guide future maintenance and life-extension efforts for the facility.

Work Details

The Contractor must provide all labor, technical supervision, specialized equipment, and materials necessary to perform a comprehensive Corrosion Control Study of the Launch Tower (LP-1/LSS) and associated support equipment. The primary objective is to quantify structural integrity and surface conditions across all metallic surfaces. The Contractor must identify, categorize, and document the extent of corrosion to facilitate life-extension measures. Minimum inspection sampling densities include: - 100% visual inspection of primary structural members with 3 thickness readings per 10 linear feet; - 100% inspection of critical nodes/welded joints with 20% NDE on primary load-bearing welds; - double density inspections in the splash zone; and - representative statistical sampling for secondary structures. All NDE must be conducted by certified technicians following ASTM D610 standards for corrosion categorization.

Period of Performance

The project timeline must not exceed an end date of September 30, 2026. Offerors are requested to propose the most expedited timeline possible without compromising technical integrity.

Place of Performance

All on-site inspection activities must be conducted at the Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska (PSCA), Kodiak, AK.

Bidder Requirements

Offerors must hold a valid Alaska business license prior to the deadline for receipt of proposals. They must also demonstrate prior experience in conducting large-scale structural corrosion assessments using Non-Destructive Testing methods, particularly in maritime or high-salinity environments.
