Annual Legislative Audit and Accounting Services

Background

The Legislative Affairs Agency is soliciting proposals for an independent audit of the financial statements of the Alaska State Legislature for fiscal years 2026 and 2027. The goal of this contract is to ensure transparency and accountability in the financial operations of the Alaska Legislature, which includes the Legislative Budget and Audit Committee, Office of Victims’ Rights, and the Office of the Ombudsman.

Work Details

The contractor will provide: (a) an independent audit on the financial statements of the Alaska Legislature; (b) a management letter on internal controls addressing significant exceptions or weaknesses; (c) ten hours of continuing advice and consultation for each fiscal year audit. The contractor must be a firm of certified public accountants with experience in taxation, auditing, and consulting services. The audits must comply with generally accepted auditing standards and address conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. The final audit report must be submitted by January 31 following each fiscal year.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on October 1, 2026, for the FY 2026 audit and October 1, 2027, for the FY 2027 audit. The contract will terminate on June 30, 2028, unless renewed by the Agency.

Place of Performance

Field work will take place in Juneau, Alaska.

Bidder Requirements

Offerors must have a current Alaska business license and be registered with the Alaska State Board of Public Accountancy. They must participate in a peer review program with a current rating of 'pass'. Proposals must include all required documentation such as resumes of assigned personnel and a signed cover letter certifying compliance with applicable laws.
