Background

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is requesting bids from qualified contractors to provide all labor, equipment, supervision, and incidentals necessary for the construction of the Nutrition Services Facility Steam System Repairs located at 690 Cope Industrial Way, Palmer, Alaska 99645. The purpose of this solicitation is to support the Borough's mission by ensuring that the steam system is adequately repaired to facilitate food preparation services.

Work Details

The work includes demolition and replacement of steam and condensate piping, valves, and steam traps. Additionally, there are bid alternates for the replacement of the flash recovery vessel and condensate receiver system with duplex pumps, as well as for stainless steel piping in the mechanical room. The contractor must perform all work according to engineered designed plans and specifications, which include demolition, electrical, mechanical work, steam piping and controls, welding, and installation of acoustic ceilings. The contractor is also responsible for integrating the new steam system with existing building systems and kitchen equipment to ensure proper operation. A complete commissioning report must be provided prior to contract closeout.

Period of Performance

The work shall occur over summer break from May 25, 2026 to August 10, 2026. Substantial completion is targeted for August 7, 2026, with final completion expected by September 10, 2026.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with all applicable codes and regulations. They are required to submit a Schedule of Values within fourteen days of Notice to Proceed and may submit Pay Applications no more frequently than once per month. Bidders must also provide certified payroll records as required by AS 36.05 (Alaska Wages and Hours Act) for all work subject to prevailing wage.
