2026 Trail Renovations Project

Background

The City of West Des Moines, Iowa, is issuing a Request for Bid for the 2026 PCC Trail Renovations Project, aimed at improving public infrastructure. The project involves significant renovations to existing trails and ADA compliance enhancements, reflecting the city's commitment to maintaining and upgrading its recreational facilities.

Work Details

The project includes the following tasks: - Removing and reconstructing the existing Holiday Park Trail. - Patching sections of the Mills Civic Trail. - Replacing ADA curb ramps at the Wells Fargo Campus. The existing trail pavement will be replaced with reinforced PCC pavement after preparing the subgrade. Sidewalk curb ramps will be modified to meet ADA standards. Additional work includes surface restoration, traffic control, and other related activities. All work must comply with the Plans and Specifications prepared by WHKS & Co.

Period of Performance

Work is expected to commence within ten (10) days of receiving a written notice to proceed and must be completed by October 30, 2026.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must submit a bid bond or cashier's check equal to ten percent (10%) of their total bid amount. A performance and payment bond for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price is required upon award. Preference will be given to products grown and produced within Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. Bidders must also complete a Bidder Status Form; failure to do so may result in rejection of the bid.
