Background The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this solicitation under Public Law 109-461, the Veterans Benefits, Healthcare Information and Technology Act of 2006. The goal of the contract is to replace a section of the roof of Building 2 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center campus. This project is set aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) concerns, with an expectation that offers will be received from at least two SDVOSB contractors. Work Details The contractor shall provide all tools, materials, equipment, labor, and supervision necessary for the completion of the project. The work includes: - Demolition and construction to replace the roof, drains, flashing, and metal coping to prevent leaks. - General construction. - Roofing construction. - Insulation. - Flashing. - Shoring up special equipment. - Fall protection. - Replacing all rigid insulation. Temporary construction items such as Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) barriers, dust-control mats, HEPA vacuums, and signage must be provided by the contractor. The contractor must also install mesh filters to prevent particulates from entering the HVAC system during construction. All work must comply with applicable VA and local codes.
