Background The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Field Acquisition Office (FAO), is conducting market research to determine interest and capability for Non-Emergent BLS/ACLS Medical Transportation Services at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner, North Carolina. This requirement is not new, as services are currently in place on an as-needed basis. The previous contract was awarded in December 2020 for $189,563.70, covering a base year and four option years. The goal of this contract is to provide essential medical transportation services for inmates. Work Details The contractor will provide non-emergent Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ambulance services for inmate transportation to medical appointments and hospital trips. Services must be available 24/7, including federal holidays. Types of transfers include: - Prison to community care appointments - Local hospitals - Inter-provider transfers. The contractor must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including certification as a paratransit service provider in North Carolina. Specific requirements include: maintaining appropriate vehicle availability, ensuring safety during loading/unloading of inmates, providing communication methods for service requests, and reporting any unusual incidents during transport.
