The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Medical Health Care System, Omaha VA Medical Center, needs to replace the existing HVAC R-410A split system in building 6 with a new R-410A system and in building 8 replace the HVAC unit with a new R-454B system, to meet A2L requirements. Additionally, a new mini-split system will be installed in the basement of building 6 to provide cooling in the mechanical room.
Background The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Medical Health Care System, Omaha VA Medical Center, is undertaking a project to replace the existing HVAC systems in Building 6 and Building 8. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the HVAC systems meet current A2L requirements and improve the efficiency and reliability of climate control within these facilities, which are critical for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff. Work Details The scope of work includes: 1. For Building 6: - Demolition of the existing Air-Cooled Condensing Unit (ACCU) and disassembly of the Air Handling Unit (AHU) to remove the coil. Refrigerant recovery and disposal will be conducted per EPA regulations. - Installation of a new Dual-Circuit Air-Cooled Condensing Unit (Daikin Applied Model RCS020D) with specifications including R-410A refrigerant, dual circuit, scroll compressors, and various warranties. - Installation of a new Evaporator Coil (Daikin Applied Dual Circuit) designed for R-410A refrigerant. - Reassembly of the AHU, installation of insulated copper line sets, charging with R-410A refrigerant, vacuuming, and leak testing. - Installation of a 3-ton mini-split wall-mounted unit in the basement mechanical room with inverter-driven technology. 2. For Building 8: - Demolition of the existing AHU and condenser unit, including isolation and draining of water, steam, and condensate from equipment. Refrigerant recovery will also comply with EPA regulations. - Installation of a new Air Handling Unit (Daikin Applied Vision) featuring double wall construction, MERV 8 filters, premium efficiency components, and a minimum airflow capacity of 5,000 CFM. - Installation of a new 12.5 Ton Dual-Circuit Air-Cooled Condensing Unit (Lennox) with specifications including R-454B refrigerant and various warranties. - Modifications to ducting, steam piping, condensate drain to accommodate new equipment while ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.
