Background The Omaha VA Medical Center, part of the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, is seeking a Design-Build Team to address safety deficiencies in its parking garage. The primary goal of this contract is to design and install a dry-pipe fire suppression system and anti-climb barriers that comply with Veterans Health Administration design guidelines. The project aims to enhance safety measures while ensuring minimal disruption to the facility's operations. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for: 1. **Design**: Developing a dry-pipe sprinkler system and anti-climb devices for the employee parking garage. 2. **Construction**: Providing all necessary labor, materials, and equipment for the installation of the designed systems. 3. **Compliance**: Ensuring that all designs adhere to NFPA standards and VA technical documents. 4. **Integration**: The Design-Build team must include licensed architects, engineers, and construction specialists across various disciplines including Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical/Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Environmental design professionals. 5. **Quality Assurance**: Implementing quality control processes during construction phases to ensure timely completion and adherence to performance requirements. 6. **Risk Management**: Identifying potential risks related to construction activities and proposing mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on hospital operations.
