Description
Primary Latest Change

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the capabilities necessary to deliver Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel forgings in support of the High Field Test Facility Dipole project (TFD). A key component of the TFD project are the two endplates, which are used to apply end loading on a 15T superconducting magnet. Each of these endplates must be fabricated from a single large Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel forging. LBNL is seeking a source for these forgings. Please see the RFI document attached for details and specifications. LBNL drawing numbers DF-1000-8853 and DF-1000-5103 are included for reference to demonstrate the TFD endplates that will be fabricated from these forgings.

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of delivering Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel forgings. This is in support of the High Field Test Facility Dipole project (TFD), which involves critical components for a superconducting magnet. Work Details LBNL is seeking two endplates fabricated from single large Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel forgings. The specifications for the Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel Forging include: - Material: Nitronic 50 (UNS S20910 / ASTM XM-19) with minimum properties and composition following ASTM A182 - Minimum dimensions: 845 mm x 525 mm x 263 mm - Quantity: Two - Desired lead time: 10 weeks or less ARO. Finished Endplate Specifications (referencing LBNL drawing numbers DF-1000-8853 and DF-1000-5103): - Thickness: 250 mm +4 mm/-0 mm - Height: 832 mm +/-1 mm - Width: 512 mm +/-1 mm. Period of Performance The geographic location(s) the product will be delivered to or performed at. Bidder Requirements Respondents must indicate the geographic location of the facility where the forgings would be produced. Additionally, only domestic end products are required unless exceptions apply under the Buy American Act. Respondents must also comply with any specific requirements related to authorized distribution or manufacturing capabilities.
