Kettle Brook Water Main Replacement

Background

The Cherry Valley & Rochdale Water District is issuing this contract for the Kettle Brook Water Main Replacement to enhance the water infrastructure in Cherry Valley, Leicester, Massachusetts. The goal of the contract is to install a new water main to improve service delivery and ensure compliance with existing water supply standards.

Work Details

The work involves installing approximately 750 linear feet of new water main within the paved roadway of Main Street (Route 9) from Cross Street to the intersection of Old Main Street (Route 9) and Chapel Street. This includes associated service connections, fittings, hydrants, valves, and appurtenances. The new water main will connect to existing mains: an 8-inch water main at Main Street and Cross Street, a 10-inch water main on Chapel Street, and a 12-inch water main on Old Main Street. Additionally, approximately 200 linear feet of 12-inch HDPE carrier water main and a 16-inch HDPE casing water main will be installed using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) under Kettle Brook. The existing water main will be abandoned in place. Work will also occur within the State Highway Layout managed by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), adhering to their Highway Access Permit requirements.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must be prequalified by MassDOT in the class of work related to Sewer & Water. Bidders are required to provide bid security amounting to 5% of the total bid amount and must submit a Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond each equal to 100% of the contract price. Only MassDOT prequalified contractors will be eligible for award.
