Remove and Install Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT) Flooring BLDG 1001

Summary: Background The project is initiated by the Directorate of Public Works, Engineering Services Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. The goal is to enhance the interior of Building 1001 by replacing existing flooring with durable vinyl composite tile (VCT) in high-traffic areas. This initiative aims to ensure a safe, professional, and compliant environment that meets Army and installation standards while addressing environmental concerns related to asbestos exposure. Work Details The contractor is responsible for the following tasks: 1. Removal of existing flooring and proper disposal of materials in accordance with environmental regulations. 2. Preparation of the concrete subfloor for new flooring installation. 3. Installation of new VCT flooring in nine specified rooms: Rooms 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 122, and 124. The total area for flooring installation is approximately 1,500 square feet. 4. Installation of new 4-inch vinyl base with toe throughout all designated rooms. 5. Painting of door trims in the specified rooms. 6. Mitigation of asbestos exposure risk by encapsulating existing asbestos-containing floor tile with a liquid membrane sealant prior to new flooring installation.
