The AFWFB will requires two (2) wildland fire vehicle package builds/apparatus onto existing vehicle chassis. The requested services will install/build Fire related equipment and supply products onto existing 2024 Chevy K5500 4x4 (provided by the AFWFB). The requirement does not include purchasing a vehicle but attaches and installs equipment onto provided vehicles such as pumps, generators, hoses, hose fittings/reels, storage, containment, compartments, control panels, suppression equipment, compressors, valves, gauges, etc., as indicated below. The contractor shall provide and create an upgrade to the existing truck, converting it into a usable fire fighting vehicle (Type 6 Wildland Light Engine). The completed wildland fire vehicles will be primarily used in support of prescribed and wildland fire suppression activities in accordance with this specification.
Background The Air Force Wildland Fire Branch (AFWFB) is seeking to enhance its firefighting capabilities through the upgrade of existing vehicle chassis. The goal of this contract is to convert two 2024 Chevy K5500 4x4 trucks into Type 6 Wildland Light Engines, which will be utilized primarily for prescribed and wildland fire suppression activities. This initiative aligns with the AFWFB's mission to ensure effective fire management and response. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the installation and building of fire-related equipment on the provided vehicle chassis. This includes: - Installing pumps, generators, hoses, hose fittings/reels, storage compartments, containment systems, control panels, suppression equipment, compressors, valves, and gauges. - Upgrading the existing trucks to meet specifications for a usable firefighting vehicle. The completed vehicles must support prescribed and wildland fire suppression activities in accordance with specified requirements. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a specified period that includes both base year and option years for continued upgrades. Place of Performance The work will take place at a location designated by the AFWFB where the vehicles are currently housed.
