Background The Veterans Affairs (VA) Spokane Healthcare System, located in Spokane, WA, is seeking construction services for the replacement of air handling units (AHUs) 18, 20, and 22 along with associated mechanical systems in Building 1 (Main Hospital). The goal of this contract is to enhance the mechanical systems to ensure efficient operation and compliance with current standards. Work Details The project involves the replacement of three existing air handlers with four new units. Specific tasks include: - Replacing AHUs-18, 20, and 22; - Installing/replacing electrical panel boards, breakers, cables, conduit; - Replacing steam piping, chill water piping, and hydronic piping for the AHUs; - Replacing AHU 20 with two new units (20A and 20K), with AHU 20K dedicated to kitchen air handling; - Integrating DDC upgrades and exhaust fans compatible with the existing building automation system (BAS); - Replacing ducts, trunks, and variable air volume (VAV) terminal boxes as necessary; - Installing exhaust fans for proper air exchange; - Conducting demolition and commissioning services; - Providing a temporary air handler during replacements if needed; - Developing a phasing plan to minimize impact on patient care; - Working varied hours including after-hours and weekends as required; - Replacing affected ceiling components; - Installing infection control barriers as per the infection control plan; Providing supervision, labor, tools, materials, installation, programming, startup, training, O&M documentation, and a one-year warranty on materials and installation.
