Background The US Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a contract for the expansion of the Cedar Hammock Range bend widener and the turning basin at Colonel's Island Terminal. The goal of this project is to enhance navigational safety and efficiency in Brunswick Harbor, Georgia. Work Details The scope of work includes: 1. Expansion of the Cedar Hammock Range bend widener by a maximum of 321 feet on the north side, extending approximately 2,700 feet. Dredging to a depth of -38 feet (-36 feet plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth dredging) is required, with approximately 205,000 cubic yards of dredged material to be removed and placed at a Beneficial Use site at Jekyll Island. 2. Expansion of the turning basin at Colonel's Island Terminal along approximately 4,100 feet, increasing the width by a maximum of 395 feet along the South Brunswick River from stations 0+900 to 5+300. This also requires dredging to a depth of -38 feet (-36 feet plus 2 feet allowable overdepth dredging). Approximately 346,000 cubic yards of dredged material will be removed and placed at Andrew’s Island DMCA. Place of Performance The construction projects will take place in Brunswick Harbor, Georgia.
