Description
Primary Latest Change

NIDDK owns two Triple Multitron Standard Incubation Shakers with Top Cooling. Each Triple Multitron consists of three stacked incubation shakers within a small footprint. Each of the three incubation shakers within a Triple Multitron is capable of independent temperature and speed control. These features maximize the total amount of cultures that can be grown at the same time, as well as, maximizing the possible growth conditions. Currently, none of the incubation shakers within the two Multitrons cool properly; and they do not reliably maintain a constant temperature. This procurement is to buy two new Triple Multitron Standard Incubation Shakers with Top Cooling. The following product features/characteristics are required for this requirement: Each triple incubation shaker unit must consist of three stacked incubation shakers in a small footprint to fit within the available space in the laboratory (not wider than 43 inches and not deeper than 35 inches) Each incubation shaker per triple stacked unit must be capable of independently reaching a temperature that is 15 degrees C below ambient temperature to 65 degrees C to accommodate a large range of temperatures to grow cultures. Each incubation shaker per triple stacked unit must have a capacity of 6 x 5L Erlenmeyer flasks (total of 18 flasks per triple-stacked unit) to maximize the volume of cultures grown within the small footprint. The temperature and speed of each incubation shaker per triple stacked unit must be able to be set independently of the others to maximize the variety of growth conditions within the small footprint. Each incubation shaker must have a single bearing eccentric drive to move the main shaft for quiet operation and very little vibration. Each incubation shaker must have the entire shaking mechanism enclosed to ensure temperature uniformity. Each incubation shaker must have four blowers to eliminate dead spots within the cabinet to maintain temperature uniformity. The height of the triple stacked unit must allow it to fit through standard laboratory doors.

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) performs basic research on integral membrane proteins to understand the function of membrane transport and signaling systems in cells. This basic information provides insight into how resistant germs work and why antimicrobial treatments sometimes fail. NIDDK owns two Triple Multitron Standard Incubation Shakers with Top Cooling, which consist of three stacked incubation shakers capable of independent temperature and speed control. Currently, the existing units do not cool properly and fail to maintain a constant temperature. This procurement aims to acquire two new Triple Multitron Standard Incubation Shakers with Top Cooling. Work Details The contract requires the acquisition of two Triple Multitron Standard Incubation Shakers with Top Cooling with the following specifications: - Each unit must consist of three stacked incubation shakers within a small footprint (not wider than 43 inches and not deeper than 35 inches). - Each shaker must independently reach temperatures from 15 degrees C below ambient to 65 degrees C. - Each shaker must have a capacity for 6 x 5L Erlenmeyer flasks (totaling 18 flasks per unit). - Temperature and speed settings must be independent for each shaker. - Each shaker must feature a single bearing eccentric drive for quiet operation and minimal vibration. - The shaking mechanism must be enclosed to ensure temperature uniformity. - Four blowers are required to eliminate dead spots within the cabinet for consistent temperature maintenance. - The height of the triple-stacked unit must allow it to fit through standard laboratory doors. Period of Performance Delivery is required within 30 days of purchase order award. Place of Performance 50 South Drive, Bldg 50 Rm 4407, Bethesda, MD 20892
