Background

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to secure consulting services for accreditation programs. The School of Business and Technology at UMES aims to enhance its educational offerings and ensure compliance with accreditation standards set by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). This initiative aligns with UMES's mission to provide high-quality education and professional skills through updated curricula across its departments.

Work Details

Consultants will provide project management, accreditation guidance, and editorial support for ABET accreditation activities. Specific responsibilities include: - Serving as project manager and accreditation advisor for multiple programs. - Reviewing curricula and recommending modifications to align with ABET criteria. - Editing narratives and supporting evidence for ABET Self-Study Reports. - Providing guidance on evidence selection and compliance gaps. - Aligning Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Student Outcomes (SOs), and Course Learning Outcomes (CLQs). - Participating in monthly virtual meetings with faculty and administrators. - Assisting in preparation for mock ABET site visits. - Supporting responses to ABET evaluator requests. The consultant must demonstrate experience working across multiple ABET commissions and disciplines. Deliverables may include ABET Self-Study Reports, assessment matrices, curriculum maps, mock visit reports, and compliance gap analyses.

Period of Performance

The initial contract period is expected to begin upon contract award and end on June 30, 2029. There is a possibility for contract extensions every six months beyond the initial period for a total of three years of consultant services.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore located in Princess Anne, Maryland.

Bidder Requirements

Consultants must possess a Master's or Doctoral degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Construction, or a closely related discipline. A minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience with ABET accreditation at the program level is required. Additionally, consultants should have proven expertise with ABET standards and processes, experience supporting multiple ABET-accredited programs, knowledge of outcomes-based assessment, curriculum development experience in engineering disciplines, strong project management skills, and professional experience collaborating with faculty.
