Background The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, specifically the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), is seeking to establish a standalone contract for grounds maintenance services at their Champaign, Illinois campus. The goal of this contract is to maintain a clean, safe, and professional appearance of the facility while ensuring the health of grass, trees, shrubs, and plants through performance-based methods. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, supervision, tools, materials, equipment, and services necessary for grounds maintenance at the CERL complex. Specific tasks include: 1. Lawn Maintenance: Mowing grass to a height of 2-5 inches at least twice a month; trimming grass along curbs and structures; removing grass clippings and debris; mulching leaves before spring and fall seasons; ensuring no damage occurs to underlying turf. 2. Fall and Spring Clean-up: Leaf removal in designated areas. 3. Tree/Shrub Maintenance: Maintaining trees, shrubs, hedges, and flower beds as specified in the technical exhibits. 4. Snow and Ice Removal: Clearing snow and applying melting materials on roads and sidewalks during winter months (November to March), with services required year-round as needed based on weather conditions. The contractor must monitor local weather conditions to determine when snow/ice removal is necessary. Period of Performance The contract includes a base period of 12 months with four optional 12-month periods. Place of Performance All services will be performed at the ERDC-CERL complex located in Interstate Research Park, Champaign, Illinois.
