Demolish Ferris Center

Background

Dane County is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the demolition of the Ferris Center located at 2120 Rimrock Road, Madison, WI 53713. The goal of this project is to completely demolish the Ferris Center and restore the site through seeding. The project also involves coordination with the Madison Fire Department (MFD) for training scenarios prior to demolition. The erosion control permit for this project expires on October 30, 2026.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for: 1. Making safe utilities in the structure before demolition. 2. Providing the structure to Madison Fire Department for training scenarios for thirty (30) days after contract award. 3. Demolishing the Ferris Center in accordance with provided drawings and specifications, including site restoration and erosion control permit close-out. 4. Complying with all applicable county specifications, ordinances, local permitting requirements, and prevailing wage laws. 5. Demonstrating experience in demolition and site civil work in urban settings.

Period of Performance

The work is expected to commence after contract award and must be completed within a timeframe that aligns with the expiration of the erosion control permit on October 30, 2026.

Place of Performance

The primary location for performance is at 2120 Rimrock Road, Madison, WI 53713, with an alternate site address of 101 E Rusk Ave for sewer plug permit purposes.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have completed at least three projects similar in size or value within the past ten years. They must also be qualified as a Best Value Contractor or have proven their exemption with Dane County Public Works Engineering Division before bid due date.
