Refuse/Recycling Hauling Services

Background

The Frederick County Department of Public Works is seeking proposals for refuse and recycling hauling services. The County, located in Virginia, serves a population of approximately 95,000 and encompasses 416 square miles. The goal of this contract is to ensure the efficient transportation of refuse from convenience sites and various County facilities, including schools, to the Frederick County Regional Landfill.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and repair services necessary for transporting refuse from County convenience sites and other facilities to the landfill. This includes: - Collection of refuse from designated locations with specified frequencies. - Transportation of recyclable materials generated at County facilities and schools (excluding convenience sites). - Maintenance of equipment to ensure uninterrupted service. - Compliance with landfill regulations and disposal fees associated with waste transported in front-end loader trucks. - Marketing of recyclables collected under this contract.

Period of Performance

The initial contract period will be for one year starting from the award date, with options to renew for four additional one-year periods.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed within Frederick County, Virginia, specifically at various convenience sites and facilities as designated by the County.

Bidder Requirements

Offerors must have a minimum of five years' experience providing waste hauling services to municipalities. They must also register in eVA (Virginia's electronic purchasing system) if awarded the contract. Additionally, contractors must maintain adequate liability insurance and comply with local and state regulations regarding waste management.
