Background

The City of Athens is issuing this solicitation for the preparation of construction contract plans for the State Route 682/Luhrig-Armitage Road intersection improvement project. This project is part of a larger initiative to enhance transportation infrastructure, specifically aimed at improving safety and accessibility for pedestrians and bikeway users from the Kershaw Greene housing area to existing city infrastructure. Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following services: - Preparation of construction contract plans for approximately 1500 feet of roadway improvement. - Addition of a roundabout at the SR 682/Luhrig-Armitage Road intersection. - Extension of a shared use path from the development to the railroad. - Construction of new sidewalks and curb and gutter installations. - Compliance with prequalification requirements including financial management system evaluation and engineering/design-related services as defined by ODOT guidelines.

Period of Performance

The anticipated period of performance begins with authorization in August 2026, with plans to be completed within twenty (20) months thereafter, leading to an estimated completion date around April 2028.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in the City of Athens, specifically along State Route 682 through the Luhrig-Armitage Road intersection to Margaret Creek Bridge.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must meet prequalification requirements set by ODOT, including having individuals prequalified for right-of-way acquisition services if applicable. The prime consultant and all subconsultants providing engineering and design-related services must also be prequalified in financial management system evaluation.
