Hanging Rock State Park Campground Improvements

Background

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is issuing a solicitation for the construction of improvements at Hanging Rock State Park Campground. The mission of the agency is to enhance recreational facilities for public use. The goal of this contract is to upgrade existing campground amenities to better serve visitors.

Work Details

The project involves the demolition of one existing pit toilet and two existing shower houses at Hanging Rock State Park Campground. The scope includes the construction of two new 1,260 square foot shower houses, each with four new parking spaces. Additionally, one new ADA campsite will be constructed near each shower house, along with improvements to the existing 71 campsites. Alternates include: - Wood tongue-and-groove walls instead of painted gypsum in restrooms above wall tile; - Ceramic tile floors instead of sealed concrete in restrooms; - Replacement of landscape timbers at the 71 non-ADA campsites; - Installation of owner-furnished campsite furnishings and equipment at these campsites.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to commence upon award and is scheduled for completion by June 17, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at Hanging Rock State Park, located at 1280 Campground Road, Westfield, NC 27053.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be licensed general contractors as required under North Carolina state laws. They are required to attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on May 27, 2026. Each proposal must include a cash deposit or certified check equal to five percent (5%) of the bid amount or a bid bond for the same percentage. A performance bond and payment bond will also be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price.
