Background

The Henderson County Public Schools is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP #2026-15) for the Rugby Middle School Concrete Sidewalk Removal and Replacement project. The objective is to enhance safety, accessibility, and aesthetics around the school campus by removing damaged or non-compliant concrete surfaces and replacing them with durable concrete flatwork. Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Remove and replace approximately 350 sq. ft. of concrete under an awning (B-1). 2. Remove and replace approximately 1,050 sq. ft. of concrete (B-2). 3. Remove and replace another 350 sq. ft. of concrete under an awning (B-3). 4. Remove and replace approximately 330 sq. ft. of concrete under an awning (B-4). 5. Install two ADA-compliant curb ramps (B-5). 6. Remove and replace approximately 1,680 sq. ft. of concrete (B-6). 7. Remove and replace approximately 1,000 sq. ft. of standard flatwork (B-7). Additionally, there are optional add/alternate items that may be included at the owner's discretion: - Add/Alternate 1 involves removing and replacing about 550 sq. ft. of concrete at the bottom of steps. - Add/Alternate 2 involves removing and replacing about 775 sq. ft. - Add/Alternate 3 involves complete removal and replacement of all sidewalk on the front side of Rugby Middle School.

Period of Performance

The project must be completed no later than July 31, 2026.

The work will be performed at Rugby Middle School located at 3345 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must be licensed to engage in business in North Carolina and possess sufficient experience, personnel, and resources to complete the project requirements as outlined in the RFP. For projects exceeding $40,000, vendors must be properly licensed as required by Chapter 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes.
