Temporary Food Service Staffing and Interim-to-Permanent Hire for School Nutrition Services

Background

The Alamance Burlington School Nutrition Services is seeking temporary employment services to provide food service staff for schools on an 'as needed' basis. This contract aims to ensure that the schools have adequate staffing for their nutrition services, particularly during times of vacancies. The contract will be managed by the Alamance Burlington Schools, which is committed to providing quality nutrition services to its students.

Work Details

The contractor will provide temporary food service staff who are qualified to perform various tasks including food preparation, serving, cleaning, and adhering to food safety protocols. Staff must be trained on the equipment used at their assigned school. The vendor will recruit, interview, employ, and ensure compliance with all employment laws including background checks. The vendor is responsible for paying wages and providing benefits as determined by the vendor's policies. The temporary staff will work a minimum of 4 hours and up to 6 hours per day depending on school needs. The contract includes a Cost-plus Fixed Fee structure where the total hourly rate includes both the pay for temporary staff and the vendor's fee.

Period of Performance

The contract period is from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, with options for renewal for up to four additional one-year terms.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at various schools within the Alamance Burlington School district located in Burlington, North Carolina.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with federal and state laws regarding employment eligibility and conduct background checks on all personnel assigned to work in schools. Vendors must also maintain liability insurance and provide proof of coverage upon contract award. Additionally, vendors are encouraged to indicate if they are certified as a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) by the North Carolina Department of Administration.
